Sustainable energy is a form of energy that meet today’s demand without putting them in danger of getting expired or depleted and can be used over and over again. All renewable sources like solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower and ocean are sustainable as they are stable and available in plenty.

Energy usage in America:

  • American energy productivity has increased by 13% from 2007 to 2015.
  • 2015 was a record year for natural gas production, consumption, flows to power generation and volumes into storage.
  • Renewable energy is a prominent part (20%) of the U.S. 2015 capacity mix, with 222GW installed across the country, a 57% increase over 2008 levels.
  • Total U.S. investment in clean energy topped $56 billion in 2015, the second highest level in the world.
  • 2015 U.S. power sector carbon emissions fell to their lowest annual level since 1995.

Sustainable energy is important because of the benefits it provides:

Environmental Benefits
Renewable energy technologies are clean sources of energy that have a much lower environmental impact than conventional energy technologies.

Energy for our children’s children’s children
Renewable energy will not run out. Other sources of energy are finite and will some day be depleted.

Jobs and the Economy
Most sustainable energy investments are spent on materials and workmanship to build and maintain the facilities, rather than on costly energy imports. Renewable energy investments are usually spent within the United States, frequently in the same state, and often in the same town. This means your energy dollars stay home to create jobs and fuel local economies, rather than going overseas.

Energy Security
After the oil supply disruptions of the early 1970s, our nation has increased its dependence on foreign oil supplies instead of decreasing it. This increased dependence impacts more than just our national energy policy.
